Ever wondered what it truly means for Kensho Karate to be a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit? It's a great question, and it's central to our mission!

While "nonprofit" might suggest everything is free, it actually means we have a unique financial model and a deep commitment to giving back. Here's the breakdown:
  • Community-First Funding: As a nonprofit, we can actively seek grants and donations to cover our operational expenses. Any funds we raise beyond our essential business costs are reinvested directly into our community or shared with other charities.
  • Investing in Growth & Accessibility: Tuition fees, which are kept as low as possible, currently help us manage our day-to-day bills. However, as we secure more donations and grants, we'll be able to grow our team of instructors and supervisors. This growth will allow us to progressively offer more low-cost and even free programs for classes, camps, and special events.
A "Dojo" for Everyone: The Japanese word "dojo" beautifully translates to "a place of the way"—a space for learning and training of all kinds. Our vision for Kensho Karate extends far beyond just martial arts. We aim to be a vibrant community hub offering:
  • Martial arts training
  • Safety-focused creative play
  • Valuable leadership and employment skills workshops
  • Wellness activities designed for all ages
  • Join us in building this unique space! Your involvement helps us create impactful opportunities for youth and adults alike.
